Growing up in Ireland, I was always interested in the Arts. In Art School, I fell in love with photography, which took me to college in London where I received a First Class BA Honors and a Kodak Award as best student. I worked there as a photojournalist and advertising photographer until I had an opportunity to come here to the US.
When I moved here from London in 1987, I had a life changing experience where I was asked to renovate an old Sea Oyster Captains house in New Haven. After it was completed, it was awarded a Historical Preservation Award. Since then, I have been in love with designing, building, remodeling, cabinetry and woodworking. In 2002, I built an custom workshop on my property where I am able to build all of my woodworking needs.
I live with my wife Anna, a RISD graduate and Architect, my 2 sons Sean & Evan, my daughter Maeve and dog Rosie.
My business philosophy is rather simple, 'treat others as you would like to be treated'.
If you decide to build, add-on or renovate, unless you have done it before, it can be a daunting task to know what to do or where to start. My job is to help you make that decision a reality by helping with initial designs and ideas, accompanied by a budget costing. Once we have finalized a design* and budget, I can then transition to realizing the design to build and finish your 'Dream Project'.
As you are only dealing with one person to complete the entire project, it is much more efficient and cost effective.
*I do work with Designers & Architects on projects that require their expertise and I am allowed to participate in design decisions.
*Some photos in my portfolio link show photos of designs by Architects and/or Designers.
I create projects that you can enjoy for years to come. If you ever encounter a design flaw or craftsmanship issue, I will fix or replace the piece. I'm always available to help you maintain the look of your project.
